Psalms 8: 4-5 What are mere mortals that you should think about them, human beings that you should care for them? Yet you made them only a little lower than God and crowned them with glory and honor. NLT
THE WILL OF GOD.
One book that helped me greatly is "Following God's Plan For Your Life" and "Plans, Purposes & Pursuit" by Kenneth E. Hagin of blessed memory. If you haven't read those books, get them and read them.
I will not be bold to talk on the subject of God's will without having read and followed the teachings in those books.
Talking and teaching about the will of God is a very sensitive issue especially at this point in time when most people want to figure things out with their brain.
The will of God is simply the plan and purpose of God. The popular Jeremiah 29:11 says, "For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope"(Jeremiah 29:11 NLT).
Believers need to know God's got a plan for their lives. This truth need to be emphasized and re emphasized over and over again. How can a good God who is loving and caring not have a plan for His creation?
God's plan and purpose matters to Him more than our plans and schemes. A lot of people figure their lives out using their brains because they think God's plan isn't as good as what they're planning in their mind. That's why many are living in regret today.
God's commitment is not to your plans neither is he committed to your schemes but His commitment is to His plans for your life. When you walk out of that plan, you walkaway from His coverage.
We must find God's will for several aspects of our lives, marriage, finances, career, country of residence, ministry, etc. Alot of Nigerians are relocating out of Nigeria but only few are asking God If He has such in plan for them.
In the days of Isaac, there was economic hardship just as we have today. Isaac wanted to relocate to Egypt where majority went. I suppose that Egypt was economically stable yet the Lord stopped him and gave him direction on where to stay.
A severe famine now struck the land, as had happened before in Abraham’s time. So Isaac moved to Gerar, where Abimelech, king of the Philistines, lived. The Lord appeared to Isaac and said, “Do not go down to Egypt, but do as I tell you(Genesis 26:1-2 NLT).
It amazes me how Christians join the bandwagon without seeking God's face. Most people are victims of bandwagon effect. They do what everyone is doing. What everyone is doing may be popular but it may not be the right thing for you.
The life a believer is meant to be a purposeful life not a common life. Common living is simply living for survival but purposeful living is living in the will of God.
Beware of doing what is popular. Often, it takes people far away from the will of God for their lives.
The best place to be in life is in the will of God. The best career for you is the career that aligns with the will of God for your life likewise ministry. It is possible to be in ministry and not be in the will of God in ministry. The best marriage is marriage contracted in the will of God.
Since the day our generation started saying "God has no hand in the choice of whom to marry", that was when the foundation for most of the marital problems we see today began.
Many who thought they could figure out marriage with their brain or because of what they learnt in books are crying today in their marriages. The proliferation of marriage teachers, seminars, books, conferences didn't reduce the numbers of failed marriages within the church.
As long as the will of God and His principles are jettisoned, nothing works.
Who do you think God is? An arbitrary man who created humans without a plan and purpose for them? We belittle the omniscience of God when we do things our own way instead of His own way.
Before you take any step, follow this counsel: "Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do(Ephesians 5:17 NLT).
If you ask Him about what to do, He will speak to you: "The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you"(Psalms 32:8 NLT).
Father, reveal your will to me as regards (...mention the areas in need of clarity) and help me to be at the centre of your will always in Jesus name.
