Romans 5:1, Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
PEACE WITH GOD
I watched the video of a Hindu festival that attracted a crowd of over 80 million people from all over India. We were told it is the largest religious gathering in the world.
The festival holds for a week and in one single week, people from different parts of India come for spiritual cleansing at river Ganges.
One of the young men who granted interview was asked why he came to the river to bath. He said he has done alot of bad stuff so he needed cleansing to be forgiven and to have peace of mind( paraphrase).
He lacked peace in his heart. He sounded unsure about whether he'll still be forgiven after the whole exercise. Peace was lacking because the rituals didn't guarantee lasting forgiveness and peace with God.
The case is different with us. When we come under the cleansing blood of Christ, our peace with God is activated immediately. It is not something we try to make up, it is what we have. We know this and accept it by faith.
As believers, we are entitled to a clean conscience not because nothing happened in the past or because we are perfect. We are entitled to a clean conscience because the blood of Christ purges our conscience.
Hebrews 9:14 days, “How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?”
God seeks to get closer to us but Satan is always looking for excuses to break that relationship and to take our peace from us.
In order for us to have peace with God, He began to reconcile the world to Himself through Christ so that He won't count men's sins against them.
For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation(2 Corinthians 5:19 NLT).
Hallelujah!!! If God is no longer counting the sins of the believer against him, then peace with God is assured through Christ.
Unbelievers need to hear this message. That God is no longer counting sins against those who have Jesus.
Religion makes people live in perpetual guilt and fear. Religion uses fear factor to hold her people down to unfruitful religious rituals.
The only man that should lack peace with God is the man without Christ. Unbelievers will remain troubled because all their sacrifices, rituals and doings are inadequate to earn salvation.
Your case is different child of God. You have peace with God through Christ.
CONFESSION: I have peace with God. I am not troubled by my past. I am a brand new man, a new creation. My past is erased and my sins are no longer part of me. Hallelujah!!! I am in Christ, Christ is in me.
