Isaiah 26:3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
Your mind is the seat of warfare against guilt and condemnation. How you feel is a function of what you feed your mind on.
Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it (Proverbs 4:23 NIV). Every thing flows from your heart.
Same applies to worry. Those who worry often feed their minds on negative things. Satan amplifies their fears and makes it look real. Thinking on those things is an unprofitable use of the mind.
Apostle Paul made it clear that this is warfare. The battle or warfare of the mind is the greatest form of warfare there be. Physical warfare is a product of internal warfare.
The first attack Satan launches is always against our minds. Paul says, *"The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish ARGUMENTS and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive EVERY THOUGHT to make it obedient to Christ (2 Corinthians 10:4-5 NIV).
Reading the scripture above, it is clear that words like "arguments", "knowledge", "thoughts" reveals the nature of warfare Paul meant. It is an internal warfare. A battle that rages in the mind.
Whenever you feel condemned, accused by Satan and feel guilty for sins you've repented of, that's a signal of serious warfare going on in the mind.
However, those things also linger because we pay attention to the wrong stuff. When the enemy brings the visual display of our past to us in our hearts, If we watch it and fellowship with it long enough, they become a stronghold in our hearts.
Demons can also torment people in their minds. Saul is an example here: “Now the Spirit of the LORD had left Saul, and the LORD sent a tormenting spirit that filled him with depression and fear.” (1 Sam 16:14NLT)
Some persons with mental issues, fear and depression are under serious demonic torments in their minds. No matter how doctors try, they won't be able to help them. I've heard of bible quoting & tongue speaking psychiatric patients.
The mind is powerful and how we use it determines to a large extent how we'll turn out.
Your dominant thought is a function of the things you feed your mind on. Some have never experienced the joy of the Lord in a long while because their dominant thoughts are on those who hurt them. Their spiritual strength is gone.
And without the joy of the Lord, where is their strength supposed to come from? After all, as Nehemiah 8:10 tells us, “For the joy of the LORD is your strength.”
Once the enemy can get you to take your focus off the finished work of Christ on the cross and your new creation status, he'll always win that warfare that's going on in your mind.
One of the biggest differences between a victorious believer and a depressed or defeated believer, is the very thoughts that go through their mind day after day.
If you're fighting serious battles in your mind and your thoughts are always unbiblical, what should you do?
All you need do is to refocus your mind on what Christ has done for you on the cross. Think more on the word and confess it. Your thinking and confession must align with the word.
Instead of saying, "I am a sinner", say "I am the righteousness of God in Christ". Instead of saying, "poor me", simply say "I'm God's delight".
Those who think about the wonders of the cross will never fall victim of the enemy's dirty dozens in their minds.
Paul told us what we should be thinking about: "Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things"( Philippians 4:8).
You have to exercise your mind consciously on things that are heavenly and on those things written about you in the word of God.
“Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.” To set your affection on something in the Greek means to exercise the mind ( Colossians 3:2).
Don't look at the problem, look at the solution. Don't be so burdened about life. The word of God has the cure for that.
1 Peter 5:7, “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you”.
Use your mind profitably by dwelling on God's word.
CONFESSION: I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. My sins are paid for a d washed away by the blood. I'm no longer on the guilt street. I'm on the lane of victory over sin, Satan and sickness. I am justified by the blood. My past is erased and I'm a new creation. Hallelujah!!!
