UNDERSTANDING WHAT MATTERS TO GOD Pt.2

Psalms 8: 4-5 what are mere mortals that you should think about them, human beings that you should care for them? Yet you made them only a little lower than God and crowned them with glory and honor. NLT

THE REDEMPTION OF MANKIND

Man matters to God. Among God's creation, man is the only specimen that was created in the very image and likeness of God.

Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us. They will reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth, and the small animals that scurry along the ground”(Genesis 1:26 NLT).

Man was specially designed and crafted by God to function and play unique roles on earth. The only creation that has connection with divinity is man not animals.

Even after man disobeyed God, because God's plan for mankind is unique, the plan for redemption was activated immediately because God doesn't want to lose man eternally.

Right there in the garden of Eden, God quickly killed an animal, made a leather material from it to cover man's nakedness: "And the Lord God made clothing from animal skins for Adam and his wife"(Genesis 3:21 NLT). The killing of an animal is symbolic of the death of Christ.

The concern God has for man is the reason He sent Christ to die for mankind so that man can obtain eternal salvation.

“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him" (John 3:16-17 NLT).

God is ensuring that we all end our race with Him in glory. Heaven is for mankind not for animals.

Since God is so concerned about the redemption of mankind, it shouldn't be of a lesser concern to us. Our lives should reflect the concerns of God.

As men die daily without Christ or not hearing the Gospel should bother us and lead us to take righteous action of missions and evangelism.

Some of us are concerned about our football clubs, favourite t.v.series, trend&fashion, career, business and so on but we care less about those whom Christ died for.

The price of blood that Christ paid for mankind shows the extent of God's concern for mankind. One of the ways we demonstrate that love is to tell them about the price that has been paid for their sins and who paid it.

Your love for humanity is not truly reflective of how God loves mankind if all you do is charity without Jesus, humanitarian work without the Gospel in mind.

Some think charity is the height of love expression for mankind. No it is not. Though charity is good and it is expected of us but telling someone about Jesus is the height of it.

That sinner needs something more than acts of charity. He needs Jesus and you show you love him If you can tell him about Jesus. Charity may be a vehicle that will open the door of his heart. No doubt. Your goal should be to introduce Christ to sinners.

Don't look on while God's most precious asset dies. Don't look on while God's investment( Mankind) is in ruin.

David must have had an insight into God's concern for mankind before asking that question: "What is man, that thou art mindful of him? And the son of man, that thou visitest him?(Psalm 8:4 KJV).

Man is precious to God.

Action point

Father, now I know that mankind matters to you. I receive the grace to show this concern through evangelism and missions in Jesus name.
