SERVICE DEMANDS SACRIFICE

August 01, 2019 · Lanre Oyeleke · 2 views

Matthew 19:27 Peter answered him, “We have left everything to follow you! What then will there be for us?”

I heard the story of a British Missionary God sent to Africa. He was the son of a wealthy parent and he had good heritage from his parents. He received God's call to come and start discipleship training. He left his father's wealth and moved to Africa with his wife and only daughter. He lived and died in the town where God sent him. He was buried there. After his demise, his wife and daughter didn't go back to Britain, they stayed back to continue ministry.

Peter asked Jesus, "We have left everything to follow you! What then will there be for us?” The first line caught my attention, "We have left everything to follow you!". That's a bold declaration about the sacrifice they've made to follow Christ. Peter must have been a successful fisherman in his days. If he were to be living in our time, he may be exporting fishes to other countries. May be he would have cold rooms all over the place. When Jesus called his disciples, he called them from the market place not from idleness. Peter knew they've sacrificed alot to be in ministry with Jesus.

Dearest, what is God telling you to sacrifice for the sake of kingdom service? For every believer, God has placed a demand on everyone of us for kingdom service. What God is demanding from us all differ. There are traders who can't close their shop in the evening to be in mid-week service. God maybe demanding that evening time while for others, God want them to give more than others. The commonest is when God is demanding your full attention so that you can be in the ministry. Anything you cannot leave for the sake of kingdom service would prevent you from entering into the realm God want you to be operating.

Action point

Father, I receive the grace to sacrifice for kingdom service In Jesus name.
