Mark6:4 Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own town, among his relatives and in his own home.” 5 He could not do any miracles there, except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them.
In my few years of preaching and teaching the word, I get to hear more testimonies of great things the Lord is doing through my ministry from babes in Christ and those that don't know me up close and personal. I find it hard achieving results with my immediate church members, families and very close associates. Sometimes, I think i labour more with my people than when I go out to preach yet the results are not encouraging. I have tried to unravel the mystery behind this. When i read about Jesus' struggle to perform miracles in his home town, i knew what the problem was- familiarity. When people know too much about you, they tend to look down on the grace of God upon your life. In Jesus' hometown, they knew his father's occupation, his brothers and those associated with him. When he came on the scene, they asked derogatorily, 'isn't that the carpenter's son'? Till date, most Jews don't believe in Jesus Christ.
If you want to be blessed through your Pastor or someone whom God has placed over you, kill that thing that makes you lookdown on him. Don't be too familiar with your Pastor so that you can receive from God through him. The worst set of people are those that live with Pastors. People maybe falling under anointing and getting miracles easily but they lose out because they look down on God's anointed. Access to a man of God should not be abused. The anointing you don't respect, you can't attract.
