1Cor3: 13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. 14 If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. 15 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.
I read a book years back about our opening text. The writer claimed to have seen the vision of heaven. He said that anyone whose work is tested by fire but doesn't survive the fire will be thrown to hell. That's not true. If you hold that believe, you need to read that portion in context and you will see that Paul wasn't talking about those going to hell but believers whose work shall be tested in heaven. So it means that whether their work survive the fire or not, they'll still remain in heaven but the man whose work survives the fire would be rewarded while the other believer whose work is destroyed in the fire would not be rewarded. Albeit, he would still remain in heaven. All our works shall be tested with fire at the judgement seat of Christ known as 'BEMA'.
One good thing we shall experience when we get to heaven is the receiving of rewards. Sometimes, we complain about not being recognized for what we are doing in the kingdom but I'm glad to tell you that some day, you will hear 'thank you' from the master himself. God is not a task master, He pays. Those things you are doing now that you think no one sees, God sees them clearly and they are on his record. The 'thank you' of man is good but God's 'thank you' is the best. Man gives award but God gives reward.
The quality of your work shall proven by fire. Whether the fire is physical or figurative I don't know. What I know Paul was teaching is that there shall be a testing and the outcome of that test would determine what our reward would be. I know motive would be a vital yardstick for testing our work. The word 'reward' from its Greek root should translated as wages or a pay back. Now that you are giving faithfully to the cause of the kingdom, interceding for souls, winning souls and obeying God in a daring manner, don't bother about who is seeing or not seeing you, don't bother about your Pastor's commendation. Pay day is coming.
father, I shall not lose my reward In Jesus name
