2Cor4:2 but have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the Word of God deceitfully; but by manifesting the truth we commend ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.kjv

PRESSURE TO PURCHASE

I heard the story of a young preacher who saw a large congregation in another man's church. He said, 'Eleyi to yan Jeun'. Meaning this crowd is enough to feed me. To him, he was seeing the money he could make based on head count in the congregation but not souls to disciple. There's a craze to grow church and make money so that the purchasing power can increase. That's a wrong motive for gathering people. We live in days where ministers want to buy the kind of car another preacher is using, build gigantic mansion like another preacher not knowing how he got those things. Some got those things as gifts while some got them through greed.

It is not wrong for a preacher to use good cars and live in good houses. I am an advocate of good welfare for ministers of God, it is biblical. In fact, I teach it to other ministers and mature believers who are board members or council members of their churches. Some people are trying to make ministers remuneration look 'unholy' while others even hate to hear it. Extreme conservatism in such matters is not biblical. That you don't get remunerated or collect honorarium doesn't mean you should make it a rule of the thumb for other ministers. I don't think God would bless you more than the man who is under the pay roll of his church or ministry. You have only chosen to relinquish your right and entitlement. From the Old Testament into the new, honouring ministers and taking good care of them is boldly supported in scriptures, 1Cor9:11,14,1Tim5:17-18,Matthew10:41-42,Ezek44:30.

However, the primary purpose of the ministry is not for the belly. Apostle Paul said in 1Cor6:13 "Foods for the belly and the belly for foods," but God will destroy both this and these. You don't do ministry because you want to buy the best car and build the best houses. You can achieve that by being in business. The pressure to purchase has pushed people to do the wrong stuff. Let your heart shift to the right path if your heart is inclined wrongly. It is possible to organize a programme because you want to raise money to meet personal needs. The love of money has always been the root of all evil and would continue to be. Preacher, run from it.

Action point

father, I receive grace not to yield to demonic pressure to purchase In Jesus name.
