CAUGHT IN THE TRAP OF GREED

August 14, 2019 · Lanre Oyeleke · 3 views

Mark 14:11 They were delighted when they heard why he had come, and they promised to give him money. So he began looking for an opportunity to betray Jesus.

There was this news about a young guy that buried his girl friend inside his room for money ritual. I wondered how convenient it was for him to sleep peacefully in the room with a corpse buried under his bed. What about those that used their siblings for money rituals? The drive to make money at all cost is at an all time high. The media is awash with several money ritual stories and the trap of greed that people are falling into daily so that they can be rich. This doesn’t exclude church goers. Right in God’s house, there have been reported cases of embezzlement and theft. The spirit of Judas is working assiduously this end time. That’s the Spirit that drives people to do anything for money.

Greed has set traps for people and many are falling into it. When you logon to the internet, there are get-rich-quick schemes beckoning on you. Even on social media, almost on daily basis, you’ll find social media adverts telling you how to become a sudden millionaire As far as I’m concerned, millionaires are not made suddenly. If it comes suddenly, it is fraud. The songs we listen to is now promoting internet fraud and how to be rich through ‘yahoo yahoo’ so that we can use Benz. Is this how bad things has become such that we don’t have any modicum of morality left in us? A preacher told a colleague that he would collect donations from fraudster. Those are the kind of preachers whose messages, prayers and body language would fuel greed in the hearts of their members.

I once heard a preacher made a statement on t. v. that can encourage his members to go and steal. The decision of a man that worship the unrighteous mammon of money is tilted towards financial gain even if he is a preacher. If you think more about what to get from everything then mammon is your Lord. Apostle Paul made it clear that the root of all evil is love of money, 1Tim6:10. Politicians kill opponents and commit electoral malpractice because of money, police collect bribes and judges pervert justice because of money. Some preachers turn to fake prophets because of money while some steal because of money. We all need to conquer the demon of greed for gain or else we may fall into its trap. Money should be our servant not our master.

Action point

father, I will not lose my integrity because of money In Jesus name.
