Prov20:5 The purposes of a person’s heart are deep waters, but one who has insight draw them out.
I have seen many single men hunting for wives like game. In fact, these days, what we see mostly are men who don’t have a sense of direction trying to initiate a marriage relationship. It seems to me that the criteria for marriage now are, ‘once you finish from school, get a job, save some money and get married’. Nobody is asking single men intimate questions like, ‘why do you want to marry’? What purpose do you want your wife to come help with? The worst is single men looking for rich single girls as an economic escape valve. What a shame!
When the bible called the wife help meet, the Bible wasn’t talking about someone to come help you wash plates, clothes and cook. Don’t tell me you can’t do all that without a wife. Those things aren’t her primary assignment in your life. Her duty is to help boost the assignment God has given you. Of course, she’ll do all that but after that, what next? Don’t bring a woman under your roof until you discover God’s purpose for your life and how he want you to go about fulfilling it. It is until you do all these, that’s when you are fit to marry.
Marriage without a common purpose can be boring especially for a woman. Every woman takes pride and joy in serving her husband’s vision. Stop trying to buy the latest LED television, get a vision first. It is not that car you’re driving that matters but what is driving you. How I wish sisters can ask those brothers asking for their hands in marriage what their purpose in life is. If you’re confused about your reason for existence, don’t bring her into your confusion. Purpose defines and dignifies a man not fat pocket.
father, reveal your purpose to me In Jesus name.
