Revelation 3:1 These are the words of him who holds the seven spirits of God and the seven stars. I know your deeds; you have a reputation of being alive, but you are dead.NIV
Reading through the words of Jesus to the seven churches in Revelation 2&3, I am reminded of the fact that Jesus would some day give us our score card. He was so detailed about His observations and he gave very accurate description of what happened in those churches. Some preachers who claim to be strictly new testament adherents do not like to teach from this portion of the Bible because to them, it sounded anti-new testament.
To be clear on the matter, the seven churches in the book of Revelation were not fictional churches neither were they figurative, they existed in the time of John the beloved. Those churches had Pastors over them and that was whom Christ referred to as ‘angel of the church’. I once read a man’s comment who opined that Jesus is too loving to give harsh rebuke but I wonder if it was the same Jesus that spoke to the churches in Revelation.
Dearest, if Christ decides to write His comment about us, what would he say? I hope He won’t say we are spiritually dull, weak, non-committed, sin-loving, ‘fireless’, entertainment loving and cold church? I am sure Jesus would not miss the point because He sees clearly. As we journey here on earth, we should live our lives circumspectly knowing fully well that some day, we shall meet with our master who would give a sincere comment about our actions and attitudes.
