INTERPRET REVELATIONS SCRIPTURALLY

John 16:13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.

My mentor told the story of a church founder who had a revelation. In that revelation, God told him that he'll give him more wives.

He didn't bother to press further to know the meaning. This man married more wives. Later, he took ill and died.

On the day of his burial, the Spirit of the Lord came upon someone in the meeting saying, "Thus saith the Lord, truly I told my servant I'll give him more wives but I meant more churches not physical wives".

Now, this man truly heard God but he failed in his interpretation of what he heard. Scripturally, the church is the bride of Christ. If he had been patient to pray and search scriptures, he may have found the scriptural meaning of what the Lord told him.

Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;( Eph 5:25).

For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ ( 2 Corinthians 11:2).

As I heard through another person, he shared the experience of a pastor. This man saw himself walking barefooted in the dream. He prayed against it because he thought it had a negative connotation.

He had this dream repeatedly and he prayed. After sometime, he quitted "warfare" prayers and asked God what the meaning was. The Holy Spirit reminded him of Ephesians 6:15 which says, "and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;"

He received a clear instruction from the Lord to go and evangelize. That was the meaning of that particular revelation he was having. Revelations are meant to be interpreted scripturally not emotionally.

Most of us buy and read dream interpretation books. A child of God shouldn't interpret revelation with another man's interpretation. Only babies do that.

God may show two persons the same thing yet he is speaking differently to them. That I saw egg in my dream and it meant trouble as the Spirit of God interpreted it to me doesn't mean anyone who sees egg should interpret it the same way. It could mean other things.

If we want to understand dreams clearly, we must avoid stereotypes that people peddle around. Spending money in the dream doesn't mean you'll be poor as some persons believe.

Beware of dream interpretation experts. They may not be attuned to the Spirit at all times. Seek to know God's mind for yourself in prayers and study. Don't be lazy.

Take your time to pray and study the scriptures extensively and check for patterns that relates with what the Lord is showing you in your dreams before concluding on interpretation.

That's the only safe ground.

Action point

Father, I receive the grace to patiently wait on you in prayers and in the place of study for proper interpretation of revelations in Jesus name.
