TEST IT IN GOD'S LABORATORY Pt.2

2 Peter 1:19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:

THE LITMUS TEST FOR PROPHECIES- THE WORD OF GOD.

Someone once told me he saw a vision about my ministry and how I will go round the world preaching the Gospel. Well, I don't know If I should call that a confirmation of what I know from scriptures or by prophecy.

The word of God said I should go into the world and preach the Gospel. Since I've laid my life on the altar of obedience, it is certain I will go round the world to preach. However, I didn't contest what he said not until he told me to do a ritual which he called prophetic action.

If my memory won't fail me, he said I should wake up in the midnight at a certain time and bath with soap and sponge then throw it away thereafter. Immediately, something in me was alerted that this has moved from prophecy into rituals.

In Chemistry, when testing the acidity or alkalinity of a solution, a neutral purple litmus paper is used for verification. The colour changes would tell what the solution is.

Since the word of God says we should test all spirits, there must be a spiritual litmus test to know whether a prophecy, word of knowledge or a manifestation is from God.

There are regulatory agencies in Nigeria that test products and goods just to ensure they're authentic. The word of God is the litmus test for checking false prophets and prophecies because it has integrity.

A preacher said, "God's word is settled in heaven, if it was settled on earth, men would have tampered with it". I agree 100%. Anything you cannot see or confirm from scriptures should be discarded.

Some may say that certain things like river bathing ( citing Naaman), burning of incense( referring to OT ritualistic practice) ,etc are in the word of God. Yes I agree but you need to understand how God dealt with mankind in dispensations throughout scriptures and how and where what we read in scriptures apply to us today as individuals.

*Certain actions were permitted by God in the old testament because Christ, the perfect representation of God hadn't come.
Christ was veiled in the old testament and unveiled in the new testament. His one time sacrifice on the cross has taken care of those rituals. Hallelujah!!!*

We don't base practice and doctrines on what is descriptive. Rather, as New testament believers, we base our practices on what is prescriptive. What the bible describes in certain places is not what it prescribes in all situations and circumstances.

The Apostles and prophets of the new testament laid the doctrinal foundation of the New testament church and whatever we didn't see them do or teach requires critical examination. That's a safe ground.

I prefer to stick to God's word as the basis for my action rather than prophecies. I have lived my life this way and it has helped me greatly. The word of God is a more sure word of prophecy as said by Apostle Peter.

I have heard people do crazy things because a prophet told them to do so whereas those things have no root in scriptures. A believer that doesn't know God's word is not qualified to hear from God.

All over the internet, we see pictures of prophets telling people to drink dettol, eat snakes, grasses and drink petrol.

Dearest, if a prophecy or manifestation doesn't fall in line with God's word with two or more supporting scriptures, discard it.

Don't be deceived by the accuracy of a prophecy. If the prophet, prophecy, source and content fall short of God's word, ignore it.

Action point

Father, I receive a discerning heart In Jesus name.
