POSITIONING FOR DIRECTION. Pt.2

Proverbs 3:6 Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. NLT

SEEK HIS WILL FIRST

Severally, I've seen believers who took very important steps with the mindset of "If it is the Lord's will, it will work out". Some entered a relationship with this mindset as well hoping to find God's will in the midst of their decision. Most times, it is hard to decipher God's will in such situations especially when emotions is involved. After you're emotionally attached to a lady or brother with endearing words often used in communication, In such situations, you may find it hard to decipher God's will. Imagine a married man of years asking to know if His marriage is God's will. That's mischievous. You don't seek God's will in such circumstances, the marriage covenant is binding until death. Many singles are in a relationship hoping to know "If" it is God's will. Some will say, "If it ends in marriage, then it is God's will but if it doesn't, then God is not involved." Trial and error is not God's method of speaking to His children. I understand that God can use circumstances to align His children to His will but not when emotion is attached or when the heart is rigidly made up.

The right order for finding direction is to seek God's will before making decisions not after the decision is made or in it. Wise people don't start a journey before asking for direction rather they get details of the journey before embarking on it. We have an example in David. The Amalekites raided his camp in Ziklag. They burnt it down, took wives and children of his companions. The bible said they cried until they couldn't cry anymore. David didn't take any action Immediately. He sought God's face first to know the next step: "Then David asked the Lord, “Should I chase after this band of raiders? Will I catch them?” And the Lord told him, “Yes, go after them. You will surely recover everything that was taken from you!” David and his men rushed in among them and slaughtered them throughout that night and the entire next day until evening. None of the Amalekites escaped except 400 young men who fled on camels"( 1 Samuel 30:8, 17 NLT). Though he had military might to pursue those raiders but he didn't take that step until he received a clear direction from God. That was why he got the backing of God. That's the way to go.

God has promised to reveal His will to us: "I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye",(Psalm 32:8 KJV). All you need do is to ask according to His word: "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: for every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened"(Matthew 7:7-8 KJV). You don't need gimmicks to make decisions, just ask God. The Holy Spirit is your advantage. It is His duty to reveal God's mind to you concerning every matter. Jesus said, "But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come"( John 16:3). Don't gamble with your life. At all times, seek God's will first before making decisions.
