WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO Pt.1

1Sam30:6 David was greatly distressed because the men were talking of stoning him; each one was bitter in spirit because of his sons and daughters. But David found strength in the LORD his God.

RETREAT TO THE SECRET PLACE

After I was told by the doctor that I tested positive to COVID, it was as though something jumped out of me. I felt lonely from within and confusion set in. The matter became worse with my partner as well, because of the result. The afternoon we received the report that both of us tested positive, the house boiled and the atmosphere changed because of the conversation we had with his mother back in Nigeria. Immediately, I assumed i took the wrong step by traveling at that time even though it was the Lord who sent us. Sometimes, challenges makes us doubt God. Mentally, I calculated the distance between Nigeria and Ghana and I discovered I couldn't run home on foot. I didn't know what to do because my mind was deeply troubled. I looked at the hotel bills, feeding and other living expenses, it was as though someone arranged frustration for us. I just didn't know what to do. I was at my wits' end. I cannot pretend about how I felt. This is to let you know that I've been there even on several occasion. After all, I'm human and I don't like to pretend as though I'm super human. In His incarnation, Jesus got to that point where He said: "...“My Father! If it is possible, let this cup of suffering be taken away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine”( Mt26:39).

Brethren, I've experienced confusion on several occasions and I came out of it. In my low moment, I cried. I wept like a baby whose doll was taken from him. I know you've been in that situation or condition several times. At such times, the enemy makes you feel God is distant and unresponsive. He makes you feel God has left you, at other times, he uses guilt to drive your spirit to a low point. He uses such times to point your errors and inadequacies to you, your dirty past and certain things you should have done that you didn't do. He comes to attack your faith making you feel God has left you alone. When you get to this point in anything you're doing, put everything on hold and retreat to the secret place: "You called in [the time of] trouble and I rescued you; I answered you in the secret place of thunder; I tested you at the waters of Meribah. Selah"(Psalms 81:7 AMP).

The secret place is the place of light and direction in time of trouble. At that very point when you don't know what to do, God is waiting for you to meet with Him in the secret place. That secret place is the place of fellowship. It is the place of "koinonia"( communion). You cannot come out of confusion and life troubles if you don't know how to plug yourself into the power that flows in the place of fellowship. The secret of triumph can only be found in the secret place. Those that have a secret place culture will always come out with clarity of thought and direction because the secret of the Lord is with those that abide in the secret place.

Don't let the enemy convince you to try out alternatives or take steps in a confused state. Not knowing what to do is not uncommon to man at certain times but doing just anything or taking just any step when you don't know what to do is the height of folly. Calm down and retreat to meet the one who knows the right step to take. Until you receive clarity from the secret place on that issue confusing you, take no step.

Action point

Father, I receive the grace to be a secret place believer in Jesus name.
