WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO Pt.2
1Sam30:6 David was greatly distressed because the men were talking of stoning him; beeach one was bitter in spirit because of his sons and daughters. But David found strength in the LORD his God.
BUILD INNER STRENGTH ON THE WORD
The whole house boiled when my partner's mum called, we were down emotionally. The result punctured our confidence. We felt so ordinary at that moment. The outreach we embarked on was power filled with lots of testimonies. I remember an idolater gave her life to Christ and her shrine was pulled down, her totems were burnt in public. Another lady walking with stick was healed supernaturally. You know that feeling you have when people give testimonies of what the Lord has done through your ministry. Immediately we saw our COVID result, that feeling left. I felt ordinary. That's a proof that whatever exploit we do for the Lord is not by our power. If the anointed is not careful, he may think he can handle every situation with his power. The challenges of life sometimes brings the anointed to the level of ordinary men. At that point, you'll need to seek God and build your faith to get result. My own case was like of that of Elijah who ran away from Jezebel after calling down fire from heaven and killing the prophets of Baal. One would have thought he would confront Jezebel with the same anointing but he fled. Why? He was discouraged and his faith was down. After every exploit, the devil seeks to discourage and attack our faith by bringing strange challenges our way. At that moment, you may doubt God's power and the enemy may make you think all that God has done through you was a fluke or they just happened by chance. At that moment, the confusion that sets in becomes indescribable.
David, the giant slayer ran from Saul and became a fugitive. To make matters worse, in the days when he was hiding and running from Saul, the Amalekites raided Negev and Ziklag where his family and that of his companions were. The bible says, "When David and his men saw the ruins and realized what had happened to their families, they wept until they could weep no more"(1 Samuel 30:3-4 NLT). Imagine warriors crying till they couldn't weep any more. That's a situation in life when wise and strong men becomes confused not knowing what to do. However, David did something that turned things around. The bible says, "David was now in great danger because all his men were very bitter about losing their sons and daughters, and they began to talk of stoning him. BUT DAVID FOUND STRENGTH IN THE LORD HIS GOD"(1 Samuel 30:6 NLT). The journey to triumph over the vicissitudes of life starts when you muster inner strength from within. This inner strength is not a psychological one but word based inner strength.
You need a strong spirit to come out of that state of confusion and despair. You must find relevant scriptures that addresses your situation and stand on them until you are victorious. That's how to build inner strength- by the word. The devil want you to remain down, hopeless and in a state of pity. He want you to "beg" for prayers at all times. He will point you to others who died on account of the same challenge. He will point bad and gory pictures for you. Don't subscribe to that. The strength of your spirit at such times will determine your victory. The enemy's goal is to attack your faith. Isaiah 7:9b says, "If you do not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at all". In times when you don't know what to do, build inner strength through the word. Let's pray the Pauline prayers, make this confession:
I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower me with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in my hearts as I trust in him. My roots will grow down into God’s love and keep me strong in Jesus name. (Ephesians 3:16-17 NLT).
