Heb12:16-Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright.
The story of Esau didn't make much sense to me when I was growing up in the Children sunday school class. Later, when I understood the gravity of what he did, I came to the conclusion that he sold his future to buy the present. Birthright refers to the benefits that accrues to the first sons. It is so huge a benefit that a first son practically owns everything.
I am of the opinion that if Esau didn't eat the food cooked by Jacob, he won't die because he wasn't fasting in days prior to the time he was hungry. It was just a normal hunger that we all experience daily and even if we decide not to eat, we can't die. The lack of self-control and foresight made Esau to sell his most precious asset- a glorious future.
The scripture likens a sexually immoral person to Esau. When you fall into sexual temptations, you are selling your future to buy the present. What a costly error! Sexual immorality is becoming easier by the day even with shops where people can buy sex toys to satisfy their lustful cravings.
If you're caught in the web of immorality, cry out to God for your deliverance and reclaim your lost birthright.
I recover all that I've lost to the sin of immorality In Jesus Name.
