BE A WORD PRACTIONER

January 25, 2015 · Lanre Oyeleke · 2 views

James1:22- But don't just listen to God's word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. 23 For if you listen to the word and don't obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. 24 You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like.

Sometimes ago, I set a minimum of chapters that I must read on daily basis. That must have been because of certain messages I've listened to from great men of God who said they finish the bible thrice a year. There's another popular preacher who listens to 40 chapters of the bible on daily basis and in less than two months, he finishes the whole bible.

I also swung into action and I became a voracious reader of the bible and I can also say that I've finished the bible 10 times in my estimation ( though I've lost accurate count now). While all that is very good, later it dawned on me that I've read more than I've done. My study of God's word wasn't commensurate with my life-style.

I decided to change because no one would give me a special gift for the long study but I know eternity with God awaits me if I become like Christ. Your attitude to listening and reading of God's word must change from today. Let your focus be on the doing what the word says not in the volumes read or heard.

FASTING&PRAYER: Day 24

  • Father, I thank you for being there for me always.
  • HolySpirit, teach me God's word and deepen my understanding in Jesus Name.

-Pray in tongues for 30minutes.
