2 Cor 2:11 So that Satan will not outsmart us. For we are familiar with his evil schemes(NLT).
I have watched a few war films and read about real wars. I discovered that large armies may not win a war, sometimes it is not the army with the best ammunition that wins.
Every troop can only excel base on the level of war intelligence of the commanding officer. In some of the war films I watched, I saw how smart soldiers under the command of an intelligent General subdued and decimated another army of soldiers at war.
War veterans know that tactics and intelligence is very vital at war, that's why they try to get enough information about their enemy before going to war. They don't learn about their enemy when an attack is launched.
They learn ahead so that they won't be caught unaware. In the game of football, a good coach would try to get tactical information about his opponent so that he can employ the right tactics.
In the opening text, apostle Paul made a bold statement that may not go well with some believers today. He said, "For we are FAMILIAR with his evil schemes". He was referring to the devil.
You can not be familiar with a thing or person if you have not studied or observed that thing closely. If I choose to preach a sermon about demonic operations and how they execute their plans, some may sneer at that message and ignore it because they may assume I'm glorifying the devil.
Such people may end up becoming casualty in spiritual warfare because they are not well-informed about the tactics of the enemy. Some even deny the operations of the enemy thinking it is an act of faith yet we see the havoc he is wrecking around us.
In warfare, Ignorance is costly and could be fatal regardless of the ammunitions in his arsenal. Brethren, we are on the battle field. The devil is a well-informed strategic tactician. He is our arch enemy(1Pet5:8), not that woman or man in your village.
Thank God for the victory Christ gave us and our redemptive rights. All we need to wage a good warfare is available but if we are not familiar with the tactics of our enemy, we may be outsmarted.
You wonder why battles persist in the lives of believers who are praying night and day yet no result? There's something yet unknown about the tactics the enemy is using to fight them.
Kenneth E. Hagin of blessed memory said that sometimes, we need to trust God to give us a revelation so that we can deal with demons. Just paraphrasing.
If a battle has persisted for long and you've done all you know to do, start researching on the tactics the enemy has employed to perpetuate evil in your life.
With the help of Holy Spirit, you may discover that it could be something as little as unforgiveness or unknown covenants that opened the door for the devil and kept him there.
You need spiritual intelligence to overcome spiritual battles.
Father, may the devil not outsmart me, open my inner eyes to see the tactics of the enemy in Jesus name.
