REKINDLE THE FIRE OF MY FIRST LOVE

July 10, 2023 · Lanre Oyeleke · 3 views

Revelation 2:4-5 Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first. Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place (NIV).

A father in the faith told a story about himself and his friend when they gave their lives to Christ. They loved the Lord to the point where they expected his coming eagerly.

One day, himself and his friend decided to start an adventure looking for rapture. They had gone into the forest before an old man sent them back home. That's hilarious but that zeal( though unguided) and love reveals where their heart was.

Where is your first love for the master and his kimgdom? Take a stock of your walk with the Lord from where the journey began and ask If that initial love and zeal remains.

Reading today's devotional, I want you to find time to pray on this matter and ask for a rekindling of that fire once again.

A few lines in the prayer of Keith Green reads: "Oh Lord, please light the fire that once burned bright and clean. Replace the lamp of my first love that burns with holy fear. I want to take Your Word and shine it all around, but first help me just to live it, Lord. And when I’m doing well, help me to never seek a crown. For my reward is giving glory to You."

Read and meditate on this deep lines of prayer again. It is deep.

Action point

Father, I receive the grace to seek after you earnestly. That you rekindle the fire of my first love for you and restore to me totally from my backsliding in Jesus name.
