DON'T EXPLORE ALTERNATIVES- WAIT

July 11, 2023 · Lanre Oyeleke · 2 views

Psalms 40:1 I waited patiently for the LORD; he turned to me and heard my cry.

In the early 90s, I spent part of my schooling years in my home town, Ileogbo- Osun state. We relocated from Lagos because dad left Lagos to pastor in our home town on transfer at that time.

Living in the village was fun but not so pleasant because mummy was not living with us. She stayed in Lagos to monitor her business. Those days, mobile telecommunications was not existing so we had no means of reaching her.

However, dad had a way of knowing when she would come visiting. Any time we heard that mum was coming, our expectations were always high and we would become impatient in our waiting all of a sudden.

If we hear the sound of a vehicle, we may rush out to check if it was mum. Sometimes, we were disappointed.

I cannot forget when we were told that she put to bed and that she would be bringing the baby to the village for christening. My younger sister and I left the school before closing because we were impatient. We devised a scheme so they released us before closing.

What God has promised to do He would do, you need to cultivate the Christian habit of waiting patiently on God.

To wait patiently on God is to stay expectant without using human means and method to find a way out.

Some became tired of waiting patiently on God and they 'helped' themselves with alternatives. In God, there are no alternatives.

The Psalmist knew this and that was why his gaze was fixed on the LORD only. You cannot be waiting on God and be looking at man at thesame time, it is impossible.

The Psalmist made it clear that after he waited patiently on God, God heard him. God sees all you're going through but his word to you this season is that you should wait patiently.

Your waiting time is not a wasted time. God is working out somethings in you and for you during the waiting period.

There is a timing for the fulfilment of your expectation and you can be sure that when God comes through for you, He'll give the best.

CONFESSION: I refuse to be impatient in my waiting season. I receive the grace to wait in love, faith and patience until i see result In Jesus name.
