FORCES AGAINST VICTORY (B)
Another force against victory over masturbation is pride. When a man thinks he has arrived and doesn't need help or when he thinks he can handle the struggle alone, pride is at work. Some see themselves as having gotten to a point in their walk with God where they cannot respond to altar calls when the message of repentance is preached. Among those suffering from pride syndrome are ministers and those that have spent years in the faith. In my few years of minstry, I have observed that the hardest person to help in the counseling room is a minister or a believer that is well versed in scriptures.
It is hard to get those preaching or teaching on the altar to learn. Very hard. Sometimes, when we hear about the fall of a spiritual giant, probably into sexual sin, lust and pride are culpable. The time when they ought to seek help, the devil will make them see their status as having gotten to the point where they do not need counsel or help especially from persons they deem as juniors/ mentees in ministry. Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall, Prov16:18.
If you're caught in the web of masturbation, do not let pride stop you from seeking help from those that can counsel you and hold you accountable. In life, we need support systems in times of struggle. It is delusional to think we can fight the battles of life alone. Aside masturbation, which is our main subject, in other areas of life, you need all the help you can get through godly counsel and accountability. Do not give room for secrecy and pride, they are known to rob victims of victory.
Father, I receive the grace to be humble in Jesus name.
