DON'T MISINTERPRET DIVINE INSTRUCTIONS

Jer 33:3 Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.' NIV

My mentor in ministry told the story of a Pastor. God told this man that he'll give him more wives yet the scriptures is anti polygamy. Instead of asking God to know what he meant, he went ahead to marry more wives. In the process of time, he died. During the burial ceremony, the Spirit of God came upon a woman who prophesied saying, "thus saith the Lord, truly I told my servant that I'll give him more wives but he failed to ask further questions on what I meant. The church is my bride(wife) and what I intended was that I'll give him more branches to oversee"( paraphrase).

This Pastor misinterpreted God's instruction totally. He forgot that the bride of Christ is the church. We often act like that Pastor. Truly, we may have heard or sensed something about God's intention for our lives but due to hasty interpretation of what God said, we mess things up. There are many believers running with a program that is against God's will even though they heard God say something to them. Another error people make is to give thesame interpretation to similar revelations every time. For example, may be God showed you eggs in a revelation in January and told you that it meant progress, seeing thesame type and numbers of eggs in another revelation in June does not mean it will have thesame meaning like the previous.

We miss God often because we lack the patience to clarify instructions with him. We want to hear and act immediately whereas, God is always expecting us to ask for clarity. That reminds me the story of a sister who said God told her she'll marry someone working in the oil&gas sector. Her fiancé was a school teacher at that time, she called it quit with him because of that revelation. Shortly after, the brother he abandoned got a job with a leading oil&gas firm. When you hear from God, don't be in a hurry to act especially if the instruction received is figurative or parabolic in nature. Don't depend on dream interpretation books/prophets to clarify divine instructions for you. Often, there are revelations with ready interpretation from scriptures but we ignore them because of the desire for the esoteric. The God who spoke to you is capable of clarifying what he told you. Ask him.

Action point

Father, may I not miss you. I receive the grace to interpret revelations correctly in Jesus name.
