2Cor 6:14 Don’t team up with those who are unbelievers. How can righteousness be a partner with wickedness? How can light live with darkness? NLT
FAITH DOESN'T MATTER LOVE IS EVERYTHING
Years back, I met a Christian lady who was in a relationship with an unbeliever. She didn't see anything wrong with what she was doing. I knew the guy he was hooked with and I knew their relationship was doomed for crisis because their value systems differ. While the Christian lady doesn't believe in polygamy, the faith of this young man permitted polygamy. In fact, he was already showing the tendencies because he was double dating. Do not be deceived that love is enough. I'm privileged to have met devout Christian women married to unbelievers who spoke with regret about their marriage. They wished they could turn back the hands of time so that they can right their wrongs.
Every relationship start on the note of "I love you" but that love is not always enough. So many things are attached to love that can either kill or strengthen love. The deceit of the enemy is to make you feel all religion are the same calling on the same God but in different ways. That belief is erroneous. How can one God have contrasting laws and values as taught by several faiths? The enemy knows that the family is central to the plan and program of God here on earth and he seeks to corrupt it by making Christian singles choose wrongly. Right from the old testament, God forbade the children of Israel from marrying people of other culture. In principle, was God against intercultural marriage? The answer is no. That time, the people of other culture were pagans. They weren't under the covenant of Yaweh. They went awhoring after other gods. God knew that there was a high tendency for his children to give their worship to other gods if they marry from those pagan people.
A vivid example is King Solomon who married strange women and his heart became cold and drifted away from Jehovah. 1Kings11:1-3, "Now King Solomon loved many foreign women. Besides Pharaoh’s daughter, he married women from Moab, Ammon, Edom, Sidon, and from among the Hittites. The Lord had clearly instructed the people of Israel, “You must not marry them, because they will turn your hearts to their gods.” Yet Solomon insisted on loving them anyway. He had 700 wives of royal birth and 300 concubines. AND IN FACT, THEY DID TURN HIS HEART AWAY FROM THE LORD", NLT. Don't be deceived with seemingly good marriages of people who married from other faith. You're not living with them to know their struggles and pains. Don't let the devil deceive you with subtle lies like: "I will convert him/ her after marriage". You're not a converter. That brother/ sister may start following you to church because he want to marry you yet his heart may be very far from God. Don't be yoked with an unbeliever in marriage.
Father, I receive the grace to marry from within the kingdom in Jesus name.
