THE PATHWAY TO VICTORY (D)
With God, you can overcome masturbation. Not by your human strength. He will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail, 1Sam2:9. Quit using head knowledge start applying bible knowledge. When we behold Christ through the scriptures, our victory over any addiction is certain. That is why the author of Hebrews said, "Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God", Heb12:2. Our faith can only be perfected when we follow the principles of Christ as revealed to us in the scriptures. Obeying scriptural injunction is an act of faith. That is how to look unto him.
Another vital step to victory is to confide in someone that is spiritually mature who can hold you accountable. This is very hard for the flesh especially if we are the type that is consumed by ego and status. Most times, men or women of high standing in the faith often have this problem. Have you noticed that it is hard to see ministers and church officers come out for altar calls after a very powerful message? Sometimes, the message may be pointing to an area of their lives that needs intervention but because of pride, they just wouldn't own up.
If you want to overcome masturbation and other addictions, you need to speak out and seek for help in the right place. Do not let the devil deceive you that you can handle it. You cannot handle it alone. Talk to someone that can pray with you, counsel and hold you accountable. Sometimes, knowing that someone will ask about our progress helps to keep us in check. I understand that this step may have a down side especially if there's no trusted person that can keep confidence around. However, it is not so bad that there isn't one person that can be trusted among God's children.
Prayerfully ask God to lead you to someone that can play this role in your life if you don't have one.
