YOU DON'T NEED TO BE LED BY GOD BEFORE CHOOSING A SPOUSE
I have come across Christian singles and preachers who down play the place of being led by the Spirit of God in the choice of whom to marry. They hinge their conclusion on the fact that since the time of Adam, God stopped interfering in marital affairs because Adam blamed him for giving him Eve who led to his fall. Those who hold this view often say that God changed his method to: “Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the LORD” (Proverbs 18:22). Their emphasis is on "finding" your spouse and presenting your choice to God for ratification. What a weak and spineless argument. They misinterpreted that scripture totally.
This mentality removes God ( the founder of the marriage institution) from the decision making process as though he is irrelevant. They easily forget where Jesus said, "I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: FOR WITHOUT ME YE CAN DO NOTHING". The same book of Proverbs that talks about "finding" a wife also said(3:5-6): "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding". That is, we should quit trying to use human understanding for life's issues( including marriage). It further says, "In all thy ways( marriage inclusive) acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths". God is still in the business of leading his children on any matter IF they're willing to be led.
Don't subscribe to worldly arguments and assertions that have crept into the church. Nothing beats being led by God on the choice of whom to marry. The world has become so dangerous. There are phony people out there and even in church who have mastered the art of deception. What about agents of darkness whose mission is to destroy the lives of God's precious sons&daughters through marital entanglement? No matter how wise, learned or smart you are, there's no way you can know these people except God is involved. To get it right on whom to marry, you must be led. Only the Spirit of God knows who is right for you. Hinge your prayers on this scripture: "I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye", Psalms 32:8.
LORD, I surrender to you. I quit using human wisdom. I'm willing to be led by your Spirit on marriage issues.
