THE PATHWAY TO VICTORY (B)

I masturbated four times in the past. After I followed the steps to victory I've been sharing with you and would continue to share, I got a permanent victory. I'm not sharing ivory tower principles that I haven't put into practice. If the word worked for me, it will surely work for you. For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven, Psalm119:89. Most times, we always expect a very powerful prayer session to put an end to certain things but more often than not, those things require taking biblical steps and doing what the word says before attaining victory. There's a Godward side to every matter likewise a manward side. Attaining victory over masturbation is not exempted from this arrangement. Never think you'll get to a point where things will take shape without your righteous input. Paul said, Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, Phil2:12.

The second pathway to victory is to starve lust to death. To put succinctly, put lust of the flesh to death. For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live, Romans 8:13 KJV. That is exactly what the word says you should do. Even God won't do this for you because the responsibility of putting the flesh to death has been conferred on you. When the flesh is alive and active, it is because it is being fed its food. Even though we are spiritual people, if we feed the flesh and strengthen it, we shall be ruled by the flesh. Paul said, For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting, Gal6:8. The big question is, how do I starve lust to death?

With the daily intake of God's word for mind renewal as a constant, the vital step to starving lust to death is to discover the trigger for masturbation that your flesh craves and avoid it. For example, the times I masturbated, I discovered that I had exposed myself to explicit erotic content on the internet. The flesh was comfortable watching those nudes and I fed my mind on it heavily. Masturbation was what resulted. If you're masturbating, you have yours. Be sincere with yourself and point out that very thing that has been feeding lust in your life. You may need to delete those porn videos on your phone and laptop. That t.v.program that arouses lust must be avoided at all cost. If you do this, you'll be starving lust till it dies. Never pamper the flesh with little indulgence here and there. It sums up to strengthen the flesh and make it grow. One may ask, "what about memories of past exposure to erotic contents that triggers masturbation"? This still happens to very spiritual people. Sometimes, memories of past tries to trigger evil passion in us. In this case, you can deal with this by binding the devil at that very hour. Speak out against that demon and get your mind busy with something productive. It could be the word or an anointed music that connects you with the Spirit.
