OBEYING UNCLEAR PROMPTINGS

Romans 8:14 *For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God* (NLT).

Sometime ago, someone bought school bags as gifts for my children. He sent the pictures to me on phone and I showed it to the three of them before he sent it.

Eventually, what I thought were three big school bags were two but with a small bag attached. The small bag looked the same in colour as the second but I thought it was a launch bag. I told my two boys the bag was theirs. My daughter was curious to know when her own bag will arrive. I promised to buy another one for her.

I did not know a problem was brewing. She began to feel withdrawn and left out. Until one day when she cried and we couldn't pacify her. From the blues, my mum called she was coming to visit us. Quickly, we told her to stop crying so that her grandma won't be aware of what is going on with her.

As she entered the house, she said "I don't know why I came but I have a urge to pay you a visit"( paraphrase). My daughter was inside, hiding since we instructed her not to let her grandma know what was going on.  All of a sudden,  she asked after my daughter and we had no option than to call her out. Her eyes were heavy with tears. We explained the whole issue to her grandma.

She asked to see the bags. As she saw them, she said, "My daughter's bag is here". She saw a small bag, the one we thought was a launch bag was actually for her being the youngest while the two other big bags were given to her brothers. That was how  she resolved the issue. She said, "I think this is why God brought me here". She stood up and left. Everywhere became calm afterwards.

That scenario may seem trivial, I saw the hand of God in it. Her coming solved my daughter's problem at that time. Something that would have made her cry all day and felt unloved. My mum visited as prompted by the Spirit not knowing why she visited until she came.

There are promptings you will receive in your spirit that may be unclear, please obey. The Holy Spirit may prompt you to call a friend, visit, give, pray or do something you did not have in plans. Just do it. We don't have to be clear about every prompting in our spirit before obeying.

If you are led to give to someone, don't bother asking to know If the person is in need. Just go ahead and give in obedience.

Abraham did not know where God was taking him to, the instruction was that he should leave his fathers house. He obeyed and did not receive the next order until after he stepped out. As he obeyed, the journey became clearer to him.

Someone somewhere needs that intervention but you might not be clear about the exact need of the person until you obey the prompting of the Spirit in your heart. Today, I want to charge you to obey the prompting of the Holy Spirit. Act on it even if it is unclear.

Clarity comes as we obey

Action Point:

Obey that prompting in your spirit. It might be unclear but obey. Clarity comes as we obey.
