TRIVIAL TO MEN BUT SIGNIFICANT TO GOD

1 Thessalonians 5:24 *Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it*.

I learnt a lot from Kenneth E. Hagin of blessed memory. I am still learning from his writings and preachings. I read in one of his books where he said God revealed to him that his wife's assignment was to raise his children in the way of the Lord.  That was her purpose and assignment in life.

That may be hard for some modern believers to understand or accept especially our sisters. Imagine someone in this age telling you that her assignment in life is to raise her children in the way of the Lord so as to leave a legacy of faith for the upcoming generation. It may sound trivial to you but it is significant to God if that's her real assignment in life. That was what Oretha Hagin did with her life before she passed on to glory.

Today, all her children, up to the third generation are in the ministry burning for the Lord and doing great exploits because a woman found her purpose and she fulfilled it. Not many will take that as a divine assignment from God because it seems trivial but it is significant in God's sight.

Oretha Hagin of blessed memory was not so much on the pulpit in her life time like most preachers wife would. In the pentecostal circle, It is almost a norm that when a man is a pastor, his wife automatically becomes a pastor whereas there is no divine law that makes ministry to be sexually or maritally transmitted.

I am not in doubt that in most cases, God orchestrate it that way so that couples can have a single focus and be of assistance to one another but again, it is not a rule. One must be called into it and marriage should not erase or rob us of our uniqueness and individual assignment. Rather, it should complement it.

Your assignment in life may not put you in the spot light. It may seem trivial like that of Oretha Hagin but it is significant to God. Your life's purpose may not necessarily put you on the pulpit neither will it make you popular. It may just be something divine that keeps you away from the public yet it is significant.

Stop trying to be like the other person whom everyone is seeing and praising for his great works. In life, the design of God is to make some known and visible for reasons best known to him while others will not be known in the fulfilment of their assignment but their work will be significant.

Seek significance in the area of your calling not popularity or visibility.

In the sight of God, no assignment is greater than the other. The one called to lead a mega church and the one called to evangelize street children and disciple them in the way of the Lord have one master to answer to. Faithfulness is simply what he requires from them not popularity contest.

Action Point:

You will do well to discover your assignment in life. Fulfill it and stay focused. Satan will make you think you are doing nothing because you are not popular or known. It may seem trivial to men but it is significant to God. Fulfil your ministry.
