Proverbs18:5 The heart of the discerning acquires knowledge, for the ears of the wise seek it out.

GET ADEQUATE INFORMATION

Years back, an elder shared with me the benefit of seeking facts and digging out information before making major decisions in life. He told me about a lady whom he was responsible for. This young and good looking lady brought a man home as her suitor. This elder and his wife had a strange uneasiness within. More so, they got a tip off from some people around that something wasn't right about the claims of that man. They decided to investigate this young man. The young lady felt they were taking the matter too far but they kept at it. They finally took a major step by traveling to the school he claimed to have graduated from. In the academic unit of the school, they couldn't find the record of this young man. He lied about his academic attainment. They got him there and the young lady realized she didn't know him as she ought to.

Gathering facts and information is biblical. In Numbers 13:1-2, the bible said: 'The Lord said to Moses, “Send some men to explore the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the Israelites. From each ancestral tribe send one of its leaders". Canaan was the land that God promised them but they couldn't enter into the land because there were opposition. God instructed Moses to send spies to gather information about the land. The essence of gathering information is to help them come up with a solid decision on the strategy for invasion. There's a wise saying that if you're not informed, you'll be deformed. There are unbelievers who understand this simple principle and things are working for them. In the business world, before a product or project is launched, they'll conduct a feasibility study to know if it is feasible. They do that by gathering adequate information before making their final decision.

Never be a stranger to the decision you're about to make. You can be informed about an intending cause of action through books, careful observation and deliberate investigation. Getting adequate facts and information shouldn't be limited to marital decisions. In all sphere of life, you need to gather adequate information before making decision. Some ventured into a business they know nothing about eventually they lost all the money they invested into the business. Getting facts and digging out information is not a sign of unbelief. It is sanctified common sense. You don't commit yourself to a cause without adequate information.

Action point
