HOW I STOPPED BED-WETTING

April 20, 2020 · Lanre Oyeleke · 2 views

Proverbs 2:11 Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:

When I was teenager, it took a long time before I stopped bed-wetting. All my younger siblings stopped wetting the bed before me. It was embarrassing because I hardly travel for holidays because I could mess myself up. My mom thought it was a spiritual problem so she engaged a Pastor to come organize deliverance for me at home after she had done her part spiritually. She instructed my elder sister to join in the deliverance vigil. We started the vigil around 12 mid night. We worshipped God and prayed for a while. After some minutes, myself and the Pastor slept off on our knees but my elder sister was awake wondering what was happening.

We woke up hours later. The Pastor said, "let us thank God for answered prayers". The bed wetting problem grew from bad to worse after our pseudo deliverance vigil. My dad decided to study my sleeping pattern. He discovered that I lacked discipline in sleep. I was a deep sleeper. I lacked the discipline to wake up when pressed. He withdrew me from my room to his room. He woke me up at intervals to urinate. That went on several weeks. That was how I stopped bed wetting. Till date, I'm used to waking up at intervals at night.

Sometimes, some of us try to use prayer, fasting and deliverance as a substitute for discipline. In the kingdom, things don't work that way. Whatever prayer can do should be left for prayers to handle but whatever demands discipline should receive proper dose of discipline. Some folks have turned prayer mountains to their permanent home praying about issues that require simple obedience to God and behavioural change. If you have a bad attitude, prayer may not give you result in the areas of your life where good attitude is needed. Look at that marital crisis again, check your financial issues or the crisis you've been having with people. You may need to do one thing yet undone and all your problems would be over.

Action point

Father, I receive the grace to do the right thing per time and to take the right steps. I ask for understanding on how to go about the issues of life in Jesus name
