2Timothy 4:13 When you come, be sure to bring the coat I left with Carpus at Troas. Also bring my books, and especially my papers. NLT
Christopher Columbus was a voyager. In one of his voyages, he got to an Island in Jamaica with no food and supplies for his companions. He begged the Jamaicans for food but they refused. He decided to read a book. In the book, he got an information that lunar eclipse ( a situation where the moon will cover the sun ) will soon occur in some days. He took advantage of that information to demand for food from the Jamaicans. He told them, "I will cause darkness to cover the land and I will make fire to fall". They refused to give him food. Days after, the whole place went dark. They rushed to him begging him not to allow fire fall. They gave him food and water. He got all he wanted because he had access to right information and he took advantage of it.
Sometimes, the reason why people keep struggling and remain stagnant is not because they are not brilliant. Some have the requisite training and have built capacity for greatness but they do not have the information that will give them an edge above others. Even if they do, they have not taken advantage of the little information at their disposal. The successful may not necessarily be the most brilliant but one thing that is common to them is their ability to search for the right information and take advantage of it. There are third class graduates living a first class life. Information makes the difference. There are secondary school certificate holders living the dream of some graduates. Everything we need is locked up somewhere. Access can only be granted by laying hold on the right information.
Those we call successful entrepreneurs are only using the information at their disposal to solve problems and they get monetary rewards in return. We go to doctors because they have adequate information about health. We are not paying them for treatment per se because people can get treatment outside the four walls of the hospital. Actually, patients pay them for their investment in getting medical information and training. That's the precursor to treatment. Start reading books that are relevant to your dreams and destiny. Though Apostle Paul was a man of deep revelation, he was a reader as we can see from our opening text. He had books that he read. The statement he made in Acts17:28 was lifted from the famous opening invocation to Zeus. Little wonder why he could defend the gospel before the stoics and intelligentsias of his day. Invest heavily in your library and take advantage of the information at your disposal to have an edge.
Father, I receive the grace to search for information through reading and to take advantage of it in Jesus name.
