BELIEVE AND CONFESS

April 07, 2020 · Lanre Oyeleke · 2 views

Romans 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. KJV

In the video of "Kumbh Mela", I saw a young man who came to the Ganges river to have a bath. He was asked why he came to the Ganges. He said, "I have committed sins and I feel having a bath at the Ganges will wash my sins" (Just paraphrasing). That's what religion is doing around the world. God's way of forgiving and saving people is simply by believing in Jesus and confessing his Lordship. Religion makes believing hard. I am saying that with all assurance because I have taken my time to study the religion of the world. The path to salvation that religion offers is filled with rituals, ceremonies and rites after which there is no assurance of salvation. So you'll see adherents doing the same thing over and over.

Apostle Paul spoke the mind of God when he said, "For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation"( Rom10:10). Religion sees that as too cheap. Someone may say, "how come salvation is that cheap"? One of the reasons why some believers doubt their salvation is because the devil is deceiving them into believing that it takes more than believing and confession to be saved. The story of the thief on the cross is a great lesson for us all. I believe he was a hardened criminal. The Romans don't crucify people for all offenses except for high level crimes. They crucified two thieves with Jesus on the cross. One of the thieves said, "...Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom". Jesus replied by saying, " ...Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise".Luke 23:42‭-‬43 KJV

If that thief had met a religious Lord, he may be asked to return all he had stolen before his request could be granted. That's practically impossible for a professional thief. They may even tell him there's no hope because because death was knocking on the door. Immediately Jesus heard his request, he granted him access to eternal life without delay. Jesus is not a religious Lord, he is the way to eternal life, John14:6. He is not seeking to put burdens on you before you can be saved. He want to remove from you the burden of sin, give you access to God, wash you with his blood and grant you eternal life. Your role is very simple. Just believe that he is all you need for your sins to be cleansed, believe in his finished work on the cross and confess him as Lord. That's all. No ritual, no ceremony no rite. Just believe and confess.

INVITATION TO SALVATION

Father, I believe in Jesus and what he did for me on the cross. Jesus, wash my sins and write my name in the book of life. I confess you as my Lord and personal saviour. Accept me, In Jesus name.
