2 Pet1:6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; KJV
ADD PATIENCE TO TEMPERANCE
I observed something in our generation. We want to get things done quickly. Every new innovation is trying to achieve efficiency in the rate at which the previous works. We live in the era of fast food and agitation for fast internet speed. If we take a little step further, there are preachers promising people instant miracles. Anyone that can get it done instantly becomes the hero of the people. The message of waiting for God's time is old-fashioned. Bill board adverts and flyers of miracle services tend to tell us we should come for instant miracles. However, God want us to add the ingredient of patience to our faith.
The word patience is from the Greek word "hupomone". It mean to abide under. It speaks of enduring trials. Our walk of faith is not trial free. If anyone tells you that you won't face trials because you're born again, that's a big fat lie from hell. God knew that you and I would face situations that may tempt us to look for ungodly solution and easy way out. Speaking through Jesus, God said, "These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. IN THE WORLD, YE SHALL HAVE TRIBULATION: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world", John 16:33 KJV. God has promised you so many good things but if you are not patient, you cannot obtain what has been promised.
God uses the process of patience to work on us. "But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing", James 1:4 KJV. Sometimes, we may not be able to handle what we are requesting for as God desires. Patience work perfection in us so that we would not be lacking in the character and skill needed. That you're waiting patiently on God is not a sign that you lack faith. True faith works with patience. It doesn't produce instantly at all times. "That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through FAITH AND PATIENCE inherit the promises", Hebrews 6:12 KJV. If you want to obtain God's promises, please be patient. It doesn't happen instantly always.
Father, I receive the grace to be patient in Jesus name.
HAPPY EASTER
