Jonah1:3 But Jonah got up and went in the opposite direction to get away from the LORD. He went down to the port of Joppa, where he found a ship leaving for Tarshish. He bought a ticket and went on board, hoping to escape from the LORD by sailing to Tarshish. NLT
There's a trap the enemy always set for every man on a mission to his generation. The trap is to make the person embark on a different journey/assignment from their God-given assignment. It is a trap we all must be careful about.
I met a young man after my final exams in the university. He told me about the call of God upon his life into the ministry and how he strayed from God's call. One of the reasons he gave for not fulfilling his assignment was because he got into wrong relationships that made him stray into sin. He boarded the "ship" of relationship with the opposite sex and he got lost.
God sent Jonah to Nineveh to warn them about His impending judgement. It was an assignment aimed at forewarning so that the wise could take heed. Instead of going to Nineveh, Jonah boarded the wrong ship to Tarshish.
Some believers are still making the same mistake Jonah made. Jonah was sent to Nineveh but he boarded a ship to Tarshish. He went the opposite direction just like many have boarded the wrong ship today going in the opposite direction.
The ship of Jonah was a physical ship but in context of what is happening today, we can liken that ship to anything or opportunity that derail us from the plan and purpose of God for our lives.
The 'ship' could be relationship, scholarship, courtship, internship and others. Before you embark on any 'ship', you must be sure of God's direction for your life and board the 'ship' that will take you there.
There are hundreds of people today that have strayed. Obviously, they know they are in the wrong ship but they are finding it hard to pull out.
Dearest, there are relationships that will ruin your ministry and extinguish your fire. Pull out now.
Failure to fulfill God's assignment for your life may lead to the destruction of those you've been sent to.
Beware of opportunities that would stray you from purpose. It is wise to know that all opportunities are not divine open doors. The moment you enter through some doors, you may not come out on the other side.
They're destiny traps. It is better to disembark from that ship to save your life and the life of others.
Father, I receive grace not to board the wrong 'ship' in destiny In Jesus name.
