1 Corinthians 4:2 Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful. KJV
WHEN THE LORD DEMAND FOR HIS TRUST
One of my mentors told us about his experience. He was invited to preach in a church. After his ministration, he was given honorarium worth N200,000. He kept the money, he didn't spend it.
Days after, the Pastor who invited him called saying the Holy Spirit instructed him to add more to the money. He did and made it up to a million naira. Still, he kept the money. He began to ask the Lord what he should do with the money.
Now, I want you to take note of that attitude. He had personal projects&needs he could use the money for yet he asked the owner of the money what he should use it for. That's the attitude of a steward. Most people are afraid to live in this dimension because they don't trust God enough to meet their needs.
After a while, the Holy Spirit reminded him that he had once desired to bless the pastor that joined him on his wedding day. He was instructed to use the money to buy him a car. He added some money and got him a good car.
When we understand the stewardship of money& possessions, we'll ask the owner how to spend the money. Not all monies are for spending, don't eat your seed with your harvest.
I've had several experiences along this line but the one I can't forget in a hurry happened a few years back. I wanted to pay my tithe but the Spirit of God instructed me to keep it. I carried this money in my back pocket every where I went.
One day, I was in the market area. I saw an evangelist I knew from way back. A genuine and firebrand woman of God. She told me she had an invitation to preach in another town but was stranded at the market. The Holy Spirit told me I should give her the money I've been keeping.
Immediately I gave her, it was as though a burden rolled off my chest. An unusual joy filled my soul. She was very happy because the money was more than enough to pay her bills to and fro. She said it was the Holy Spirit that led her to the market. She didn't have anything to do there. She prayed that God should supply her needs miraculously not knowing I was the answer to her prayer. This is one of the ways God distribute His resources to meet kingdom needs.
Dearest, the Lord is in the habit of demanding for His trust. In our hearts, we know when this happens but often we harden our hearts against His voice. Sometimes, due to biases, we look away from genuine kingdom needs and causes.
Some of us are too inquisitive and always suspicious of preachers when it comes to money yet we claim to be led by God. The Holy Spirit won't lead you to put your money in the hands of phoney people.
Stewards don't hoard resources. Today, let it sink deeply into your heart that God will demand for the resources He entrusted into your care. It is not yours, release it to the owner.
Father, I receive the grace to be a faithful steward of money and possessions in Jesus name.
