WHAT GOD ENTRUSTED TO US- THE GOSPEL.
Spreading the goodnews of the kingdom is a trust given to every child of God not a few. Often, we think only Evangelists and missionaries are saddled with the responsibility of preaching the Gospel whereas it is an assignment for all believers regardless of status, age, education and experience.
God didn't classify some of us as "Goers" because everyone should go to where sinners are. Though we are also meant to be "Givers" but not at the neglect of preaching to those around us and living the Gospel. As you give to support those who are going to places where you may never go to preach the Gospel, you have a duty to preach to those around you. It is a trust.
The "Go Ye" command was the last command of Christ in the bible. His last command should be our very first priority as believers and corporately as a church because God gave it to us as a trust.
Paul said: "For we speak as messengers approved by God to be entrusted with the Good News. Our purpose is to please God, not people. He alone examines the motives of our hearts" ( 1 Thessalonians 2:4 NLT).
Thousands cross into Christless eternity on daily basis without hearing about Jesus. All around us, sinners are crossing into eternity in droves. Some sinners who have crossed into dark side of eternity may blame us for not telling them they could be redeemed from eternal hell. The message about eternal life is too valuable to be kept to ourselves. Don't keep your mouth shut, spread it.
When I get to heaven, I want to see many souls who came to Christ on account of my obedience to the Great Commission task. You cannot afford to sleep while millions are going to hell. While on campus, as led by the Spirit, I once preached in a hostel block where someone had less than 5 months to live. The young man fought me for preaching. He didn't give his life to Christ. Painfully, he died, trapped in a burning house as I was told.
If we know the terrible judgement that await sinners, we will preach the Gospel as though our very lives depend on it.
Further, we are not only to preach the Gospel, we are meant to live it. A man may preach the Gospel by word of the mouth but may not live what he is preaching. One of the most effective ways to preach the Gospel to friends, families and neighbours is for them to see you living a life that is worthy of the kingdom.
Living out the Gospel is a trust. Someday, we shall give account to God.
Father, I receive the grace to preach the Gospel and to live it in Jesus name.
