THE MARKS OF A REVIVED LIFE . Part 7

Psalms119:97 O how love I thy law! it is my meditation all the day.

HUNGER FOR THE WORD(A)

I heard the story of a young convert who was formerly in a religious cult. In that occultic group, their religious books are in volumes. After he gave his life to Jesus, he read the whole bible in a number of days and asked for volume II. They told him the bible doesn't have volumes. It was obvious that he loved what he read after hearing the good news and he found great treasures in it. One of the marks of a revived life is hunger for the word of God. A lady once told me that the only time she reads her bible well is when she goes to the mountain to pray (but she eats daily). Some read only on Sundays and other ceremonial days.

If I may ask, do you eat only on ceremonial days or daily? Even though three square meal is the standard yet most people feed their bodies more than thrice in a day. If you eat daily, even if it is once or twice, then it is mandatory to feed your spirit man with the word on daily basis. What food is to your physical body is what the word of God is to your spirit man. Some are big on the outside but they are small on the inside. Their spirit-man is malnourished and starved of divine nourishment. Just as you can pray yourself into revival, you can also spark the fire of revival through constant study of the word.

After you're revived, you need to keep studying the word daily to stay revived. If you fail to eat for some days, you may faint. You need the word to be spiritually awake and alive. You cannot get to a point in your walk where you won't need to study the bible even if you're a Professor of biblical studies. No man has gotten to that point. As you study daily, you'll see things you've not seen before. The fire in the word will keep you aflame. Jeremiah said, "Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay."(Jer20:9). Ask the Lord to give you a continuous hunger for His word.

Action point

Father, revive me. Stir in me a hunger for your word in Jesus name.
