THE MARKS OF A REVIVED LIFE . Part 14

John6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

MEET THE REVIVALIST

Human effort cannot achieve revival. You may be fascinated about the teaching on revival. You may be zealous and tempted to draw up a set of rules to achieving this desire and still forget the revivalist. There is a need to know who is responsible for this end time revival that we are talking about here on earth. God the father is in heaven, Jesus is seated at the right hand of the father(Luke22:69, Romans8:34) while the Holy Spirit is actively working on earth to ensure that God's program for the hour is accomplished. The Holy Spirit is the revivalist not any man. When Jesus was about leaving the earth, He promised to send the Holy Spirit so that believers can be empowered to fulfill the great commission.

Jesus said, "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”(Acts1:8). The Greek word for power in that text is "Dunamis". It is used 120 times in the New Testament. Loosely, the word refers to “strength, power, or ability.” It is the root word of our English words dynamite, dynamo and dynamic. It also refers to inherent strength and ability. This inherent power is the reviving power of God. Only the Spirit of God can give believers this power. He is the revivalist.

I have seen posters where preachers were called revivalist. That idea stems from the believe that preachers can revive their listeners. In most cases, the "revivalist" may do some gymnastics and whip up emotion on the pulpit. After the service, nothing is left to be pointed at as a testimony of transformation. God can use his servants as agents of revival but they are not the revivalist. Revival is not a program. It is a life changing experience with the Holy Spirit. Quit trying to be revived. Surrender to the Spirit. No matter how hard you try, human effort cannot achieve this desire because the flesh stands opposed to the things of the Spirit. Plug yourself into the flow in the place of fellowship. Those that have the habit of staying in God's presence to fellowship with the Holy Spirit will be revived and as they stay in His presence continually, they shall remain revived.

Action point

Father, revive me.
