Prov12:11 A hard worker has plenty of food, but a person who chases fantasies has no sense. NLT
Two friends who were poverty stricken decided to visit a diviner so that they can know what the future holds. One was told that he was destined to be poor and there was nothing he could do about it. The second one was told that he'll be wealthy and that he'll live in plenty all the days of his life. The man whose future was bright decided to throw a party telling his friends and families how great his future was. From the day he heard that prediction, he stopped working thinking that wealth will fall on his laps like ripe cherry. He dressed and walked around like a wealthy man and people started greeting him specially. The other friend that was told would die poor decided he'll change his fortune through hard work. He bought cutlasses and other farm equipment. He relocated to the farm with his family and they tilled the ground with the mindset of changing their fortune.
After some years, he became a wealthy farmer. During harvest, he decided to employ some people to do manual harvesting on his farm. Surprisingly, his supposed wealthy friend was among. Poverty had dealt with him squarely. No one can succeed in life by chasing after fantasies. There are lazy young men that knows the different brands of cars and the latest model. They'll describe a country they've never been as though they've been there. While their mates are at work, they may be sleeping or hanging around people who are doing something productive with their lives. Work doesn't kill, it refines. God is our prime example in this. The bible said, "In his defense Jesus said to them, "My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I too am working."(John5:17). With this scripture, you have no excuse. Laziness can kill a vision and render the visionary to become a day dreamer.
The worse is when people sit back doing nothing because of prophecy. Some may tell you good things that has been prophesied about them but laziness is written all over them. One of the things common to lazy people is that they fantasize a lot. They build castles in the air and live an utopian dream. God hates laziness. No matter how much you pray and fast, if you're not hardworking nothing will work in your life. Stop using spirituality to cover up for laziness. One of the counsel I give to singles intending to marry is never to marry a lazy brother or sister. Beware of those that may want to sweet-talk you into marrying them because of a glorious future even when they've not laid the foundation of that future with hard work. The future is predictable by checking attitude to work. The bible says, "For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: "If a man will not work, he shall not eat."(2Thess3:10). Another scripture I like says, "But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel." (1Tim5:8). Go to work.
CONFESSION: I am productive by the power of the Spirit. I refuse to be lazy in the name of Jesus Christ.
