1Tim4:7 Do not waste time arguing over godless ideas and old wives’ tales. Instead, train yourself to be godly(spiritual). NLT. Emphasis mine
SPIRITUAL INVESTMENT
Life operates on the principle of sowing and reaping. That's a fundamental principle that works anyday, anytime and everywhere. Apostle Paul said, "Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows."(Gal6:7). This principle works for marriage as well. The burden of harvest is not on God but on man because the law governing the earth works for those that have sown something. If a farmer has sown nothing, he shouldn't expect something in return. Whatever you sow into your life as a single, you'll reap in marriage.
There's so much talk about investing for the rainy days by financial experts but they fail to realize that failure to invest in oneself for marriage can ruin other investments. As a single trusting God to be married, you have enough time to invest in your spiritual life. That is not to say that you'll stop investing in your spiritual life in marriage but the point is that you have time on your side to sow into your spiritual life without divided attention. Apostle Paul said, "I want you to be free from the concerns of this life. An unmarried man can spend his time doing the Lord’s work and thinking how to please him"(1Cor7:32).
As a single, your spiritual life should be topmost on your heart. The reason why so many people don't believe that God still leads his children on the choice of whom to marry is because they are not hearing God themselves. They have not invested quality time in fellowship with God to know how he speaks to them. Before you get to that point where you'll make crucial decisions in your life, start investing quality time in deep fellowship with your maker. On a daily basis, you must mark your register with God. It is not wise to start finding how God speaks to you when you're about deciding whom you want to marry. You cannot recognize the voice you've not been acquainted with. That's why we have so many fake "thus saith the Lord...thou shall be my wife." Don't play games with God, invest now.
Father, I receive the grace to invest in my spiritual life in Jesus name
