There is a school of thought that says, "marriage is a black market." I have heard this severally and so many Christians subscribe to this unbiblical ideology. What they're trying to say is that marrying right or getting it right is uncertain except by sheer luck. I have a different opinion on that because the bible doesn't support that view. There are many singles with this mentality, they think a good husband or wife comes by luck. That's why there are so many trial and error relationships today all in the name of dating. Singles keep checking out one another to ascertain compatibility.
It is not God's will for any of His children to marry blindly. God is not glorified if you miss it in marriage because your marriage is crucial to the fulfillment of His plans and purpose(s) for your life. In Psalms 32:8, God said, "I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you." That's a comprehensive assurance of divine guidance. During the last days of Jesus on the earth, in John 16:13, he said, "But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come."
Truly, the whole world lies in darkness(1John5:9) but the Holy Spirit is the guiding light in the black market of marriage. What you need is a relationship with the Holy Spirit not those self help methods on how to know "Mr/Mrs right". You cannot know the heart of man by merely looking at the face, only the Spirit of God can help you discern properly. It is impossible for a Spirit led believer to miss it in marriage provided he's sensitive and obedient to the promptings of the Spirit. God has a way of drawing the attention of His children to the truth if they're open to His leading. The first relationship you need is a relationship with the Holy Spirit. He is the guiding light in the black market of marriage.
Holy Spirit, I want to know you more. I refuse to be led by the flesh but by you alone, in Jesus name.
