1Cor6:18 Run from sexual sin! No other sin so clearly affects the body as this one does. For sexual immorality is a sin against your own body. NLT
An old flame is an informal expression for an old lover. I have heard and read several stories about those who were involved in extra marital affairs with an old boy friend or girl friend. I read most of my news online and in the process, i get to read about people who share their experience using a pseudonym. There are men that are married for decades but became crazy the moment they sighted their ex lover who was married with kids. Some of those reunion started normally but with constant communication, the embers of old flames were fanned.
Unfortunately, there are sincere and good people who fell into this trap. In fact, some who were caught in this trap were faithful to their spouses but they couldn't resist the temptation from an ex lover. One of the things I tell people(single/married) who care to live above sexual sin is that they shouldn't be overconfident around the opposite sex. No matter how anointed you are, you must admit that you are prone to falling into sexual sin. In this matter, overconfidence kills. Apostle Paul said, "Abstain from all appearance of evil."(1Thes5:22).
If you don't want to be caught in the trap of old flames, abstain totally. Stop monitoring your old lover on social media neither should you give him/her attention via constant communication. The moment your attention is fixed on that old boyfriend or girl friend, it is just a matter of time, the devil will arrange a meeting for compromise between you both regardless of distance. Beware of intimate conversations with your ex. Most times, such conversations end on the bed. Once you're married, traces of old relationships must not be brought into your marriage. Stop reporting your spouse to your ex neither should you compare your spouse to your ex in anyway. The bible told us to resist the devil on other issues but when the subject of sexual sin surfaced, it says : "FLEE from sexual immorality."(1Cor6:18).
Father, I receive the grace to stay pure sexually in Jesus name.
