Matthew 5:5 “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth
THE TEST OF MEEKNESS- ABILITY TO CONTROL POWER.
Sometime ago, I was at a 'suya' (roasted beef) spot. I stood at the extreme end of the line of those waiting to buy 'suya'. The fruit seller beside the 'suya' seller shouted at me not to block her. I moved though I wasn't blocking her.
The man beside me became visibly angry with her because she was fond of shouting at people who come to buy 'suya'. The man told me he would organize an evening raid that will send every trader in that spot packing except the suya seller.
He boasted he will prove how powerful he was to the woman so that she would learn how to talk. I perceived he was a senior police officer or military man so I told him not to show how powerful he was. That's a lesson in the school of meekness for us all.
What is meekness from biblical perspective? According to New testament Greek etymology of the word, 'meek or meekness' is 'strength/ power under control'.
A common illustration is that of a powerful war horse under the control of his master. The horse is powerful but his power is under control. That's the bible way to describe meekness.
Meekness is the ability to control and use power properly. We can't know you are meek until God gives you power and we see how you use it.
One of the tests every child of God aspiring to climb the ladder of glory must take is the test of meekness or test of power. God want to see what you will do with power so he'll allow you have a little taste of it.
So many glory climbers have failed the test of meekness. There are those who use anointing to curse or to take advantage of people financially.
Why God may not give some persons the power they desire is because he has seen their tendencies to abuse power when he gave them little power. The anointing in the life of some persons might become commercialized.
I remember the story of a corpers' fellowship president who had sisters that undressed him and read Bible into his hearing while he sleeps on the bed like a don. Just a little taste of power, he messed it up.
I was an active student leader as well and I saw several anomalies all in the name respecting the office of the 'president'. I have asked severally, "where are some of those campus pastors of yesteryears that lived like Lords"?
We thought some would leave school and become great preachers but some are nowhere to be found. Some returned to their home churches and couldn't serve in units and departments because they tasted little power and became corrupted.
Heaven is saying that some failed the meekness test. We saw the glamour of their office, how their mates were compelled to wash and iron their clothes, cook for them and even carry their bibles but God's score sheet is reading ten over hundred.
Some would have become greater than we thought but they failed the test of meekness when they were given little power.
Every man desiring a new level of glory in God must pass the test of meekness before moving to the next level. That office is a test.
Don't use your power to take advantage of people or to show how powerful you are to those that offend you.
Father, may I not fail the test of meekness In Jesus name
