Psalm34:1 I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
September 12th, 2020 stands as one of the memorable days in my life. Though It was not the most memorable day because there were other days in-between that year that stood out because of notable events.
That day marked the beginning of a turbulent journey that shook my faith and those around me. I traveled to one of the neighbouring West African states, (Ghana to be precise)for evangelistic outreaches.
I took a young man along with me for media coverage. He has never been part of my team but he was recommended by my media assistant who couldn't make the journey.
Getting to the airport by 3pm, we were meant to fly to Accra by 8:45pm that day but we had a delay till the next day. We didn't fly until after 10am the next day. We were discouraged about the turn of events but I kept praying in the airport.
A number of persons decided to return home because they were tired of the failed promises from the airliners. For me, there was no going back because I've said good bye to friends and families.
When the airline staff told us the likelihood of canceling the flight, I walked to one of them telling her that a king sent me on errand. I told her that if I don't go, many souls will die and go to hell. I told her I was on a rescue mission. I looked strange to those airline staff.
I paced the floor of the airport in the midnight praying when almost everyone had slept. When it was daybreak, they told us to get ready because an aeroplane was coming from Accra to pick us. God answered my prayer and the young man with me was excited.
When we got to Ghana, we had wonderful meetings. Souls responded to the call for salvation and there were numerous miracles such that hasn't happened before in our meetings. A lady on crutches was healed miraculously, swellings disappeared, pains were healed instantly and in all Jesus was glorified.
After the whole program, the first thing that happened was the cancelation of our flight and we had to reschedule. In-between, we tested positive to COVID-19. That was a huge blow to our faith. I felt like Elijah who killed prophets of Baal but ran from Jezebel.
We spent weeks in Ghana more than scheduled to the point where we couldn't pay hotel bills not because we don't have money but because if we had continued, we wouldn't have anything left on us for our return.
The young man had very bad symptoms. He could barely walk. On one of the Sundays, I called for an ambulance to come pick him because his case was an emergency. The ambulance didn't come so I quickly got a taxi but I didn't tell the driver we both had covid.
This happened In a country where we don't have families and relatives, where you cannot easily access funds. Thank God for bro Walter Chuku, he was there for us. The mother of this young man became very disturbed emotionally. The devil kept telling me the young man will die and I will spend two years in jail when I return to Nigeria because the family will sue me. I rejected his insinuations.
If that young man had died, my ministry may have ended or tainted with a bad image forever because a number of persons may have concluded that I took him out of the country for rituals. My intention is not to tell stories today but to thank the father of all mercies who kept me and saved me from shame.
It is good to thank God always and not forget His benefits. Whatever God has done in the past(big/small), please never forget it. Our amnesia about God's greatness and deliverances shows that we do not value His interventions but for me, I value this and several other things the Lord has done for me: "Bless the LORD, O my soul: And all that is within me, bless his holy name." Psalm 103:1 KJV
Praise the Lord with us!
