Romans 4:7 "Blessed are those whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered".
There is a trip you must not embark on. It is called guilt trip. After you've forgiven yourself and accepted God's love through Christ for your sins, do not stay around people or in environments that will make you feel guilty and condemned again.
This is very crucial if you want to silence the voice of guilt and condemnation that makes you feel unforgiven. There's something called guilt trip.
Guy Winch describes it as a form of verbal or nonverbal communication in which a guilt inducer tries to induce guilty feelings in a target, in an effort to control their behavior. As such, guilt trips are a clear form of psychological manipulation and coercion.
The devil specializes in taking people on a guilt trip. The bible calls him the accuser of the brethren ( Rev12:10). Before accusing you, he'll take you on a trip to your past, he'll present the pictorial/visual details to you and then accuse you.
Sometimes, those who know about your dirty past can guilt trip you to control and manipulate you, please don't allow them. It is even worse when this is coming from the brethren because of what they know about you from your past.
The height of it is when they use your former lifestyle to preach right in your presence not knowing that you've been forgiven by God.
A Pastor once told a lady that If she leads song in church, he won't sing along. He said that in reaction to what she did. He didn't care to lead that lady back to the right track. He picked her wrongdoing and made a very hasty decision.
That lady will need special grace to grow spiritually under such a Pastor and she may find it hard to forgive herself even after God has forgiven her because her Pastor has laid a burden of guilt on her.
If you love yourself, please stay away from those that always guilt trip you to downplay your new creation status or to disregard what God is doing through you.
Paul said, "Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies."(Rom8:33). Hallelujah!!! Now that you're in Christ, you're justified.
CONFESSION: Father I thank you for the provisions made for my sins on the cross. Thank you for the vicarious substitution of Christ on the cross. Nothing in my past is strong enough to make me feel guilty and condemned one more day. I'm a new creation in Christ and I walk in the newness of life henceforth in Jesus name.
