2 John 1:6 Love means doing what God has commanded us, and he has commanded us to love one another, juest as you heard from the beginning. NLT
Often, we sing songs about loving God in our church meetings. Sometimes, we sing these songs to the point of shedding tears. The music and combination of sounds stirs the emotion and everywhere is charged with a divine presence as we express our love to God. Have you been in such atmosphere before?
I've been privileged to meet people living in sin yet claiming to love God. If you get on the streets asking about those who love the Lord, you'll be surprised to hear almost everyone answer in the affirmative. Then, one will wonder if loving God is akin to loving the opposite sex.
Reading the book of 2 John 1:6, it is clear what loving God truly mean from a scriptural perspective. Obedience to God's commandments is the proof of our love to him not those songs that we sing while shedding tears.
Loving God is not an abstract thing. It requires the action of obedience. The man who loves God will make obedience to our master his priority. It is not about songs. Singing about our love for is cheap. Anyone can sing but not everyone is obeying God.
Loving God starts with obeying what is written in scriptures. The bible is filled with numerous commandments for mankind. Those commandments are for our good.
1 John 5:3 says, "For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous" (KJV).
You proof your love to him in obedience not in mere talks or songs. Anyone can compose songs. Obedience must be total not partial.
What are those instructions God gave you? Are there pending obedience to divine instructions?
