2Cor18:18 So we don't look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever. NLT
What you focus on repeatedly has a way of controlling you and creating a lasting impression in your heart. David was a man encompassed with enemies but from some of his words, we can infer that he was God-conscious than trouble-conscious. He said 'magnify the Lord with me'. In another portion of the bible, he said ' they looked unto him&their faces were lightened'. Glory!
When your gaze is fixed on life's troubles, it robs you of God's presence and sometimes the hope of eternity. Paul admonished us to focus on things that can not be seen because things that you can see are temporal. That barreness, joblessnes and sickness is temporal.
Eternal things like what we shall be like when he comes is permanent&can not be seen with the ordinary eyes. The glories of heaven cannot be seen but revealed, have you ever imagined the wonders of our transport when Jesus comes? It would be an amazing sight to behold. When your focus is on what Jesus did on the cross, you will always experience victories.
If your focus is on things such as these, you can't miss God when faced with the worst challenges of life.
