When I was in school of missions, our principal told us about a very good wristwatch that someone gave him. The wristwatch became the object of his adoration and he was distracted because of that special wristwatch. He prayed to God about it and he couldn't find the wristwatch again.
Sometimes as believers, we have the tendency to be attached to 'things'. In fact, there are preachers that point people to 'things' thereby making them attched to those things rather than Christ. Some people adore their jewelries, cars and personal effect more than God. Sometimes you need to hear people talk so that you'll know what they are attached to.
Everything in this world will pass away with it. Those things you treasure so much will be burnt someday. I heard of a woman who was so attached to gold such that her creditors would come knocking on her gates to pay them, yet she keeps buying. What some people have invested into material things is so much that they are afraid of thieves.
Every mundane thing you adore will pass away soon,please don't pass away with them.
Father, I receive grace to detach from mundane things In Jesus name.
