COMMON TEMPTATIONS

December 13, 2014 · Lanre Oyeleke · 2 views

1Cor10:13 The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure. NLT

The bible is replete with stories of men and women that were tempted but overcame temptations. One of such men is Joseph. He was a slave, no one likes slavery no matter what the benefits are. He was faced with the temptation of sleeping with his Mrs Potiphar. That was a temptation for him.

Indulging in such may have given him some freedom but he saw that as a trap for his dreams. It is not easy to stay pure when tempted, especially if indulging in sin would get you some temporary benefits. Some would say they did it because they couldn't stand it. There is always a way of escape in every temptation. Paul called such temptations 'common temptations'.

Truly, there are times in life we feel God has allowed us to go through what seems to be beyond what we can endure. The scripture above is very clear on this issue, God has never and will never allow you to be tempted beyond what you can bear. Also, he will provide a way of escape for you so that you can overcome. Glory!
